Computing

  Welcome to Computing at Newfold

"Through the teaching of Computing we facilitate children's participation in a world of rapidly-changing technology, where they are able to explore, analyse, exchange and present information safely. As a result, children will have the necessary skills to use information in a non-discriminating and effective manner to become confident, creative and independent learners."

Our Digital Leaders 2024 - 25

Newfold Press

Here at Newfold, we have our very own press team.  They attend events throughout the year, taking photographs and then presenting them in a variety of ways.

See if you can spot us at the next Newfold event we have in school!

Take a look at this PowerPoint we have created to showcase some of the wonderful events that took place in the Autumn term 2024.

We took part in Safer Internet Day on February 6th 2024.

Katherine Howard came into school from Smoothwall and worked with every class. she talked about keeping safe when online gaming and how to use the chat function appropriately. How to stay safe when using technology and whether we can trust everything we see online.

Katherine also held a well attended Parent Workshop after school to help our parents keep their children safe at home.

Extra -Curricular Opportunities

Some of our children in Year 5 are currently taking part in our lunchtime Minecraft Club.  This is a chance to build virtual worlds in a safe and structured environment with friends.

The Bebras Challenge

In November 2024, 13 children from Year 6 entered the UK Bebras Challenge run by the Raspberry Pi foundation.  The challenge was a test of computational thinking and our children thoroughly enjoyed taking part.

Congratulations To Oscar for winning the accolade of Best in School!
