Reading books
Please ensure your child reads at least three times a week at home. Diaries are checked every Friday and should be signed by a parent or carer.
PE and Games
For the remainder of the Autumn Term, PE lessons will be on Tuesdays and games lessons will be on Wednesdays. Please ensure your child attends school wearing the appropriate uniform for these days or has a games/PE kit to get changed into.
Wigan & Leigh College 'What Can I Be?' Day
As part of our commitment to providing a wider curriculum and opportunities beyond life in school, we are looking forward to visiting Wigan & Leigh College later this term to take part in a ‘What Can I Be?’ Day.
We are grateful to Wigan & Leigh College for hosting and organising this exciting event, which will give our children an insight into a range of careers such as Nurse, Games Developer, Electrician, Construction Manager, Engineer and Zoo Keeper. We also appreciate the support of Friends of Newfold for generously providing the coach.
Pantomime Visit – December 2025
We are excited to share that this December, our children will be heading to the theatre to enjoy a festive pantomime performance. This much-loved annual tradition is always a highlight of the school year, bringing plenty of laughter, singing and audience participation!
A huge thank you to Friends of Newfold for helping to make this special experience possible once again.
Year 6 SATs
Our Year 6 children will take their SATs in May 2026. These tests are just one way for pupils to show what they’ve learned during their time at primary school.
At Newfold, we believe it’s important that children feel calm, confident and supported throughout the process. We’ll continue to work hard in class to make sure everyone feels ready, but we’ll also remind the children that SATs don’t measure all the wonderful things that make them who they are.
